TXT recently released their second full-length album, The Chaos Chapter: Freeze. One of the things that stood out to fans was that the members took part in the songs’ production and songwriting. They are credited for over half of the album!
The members recently sat down in an interview with DAZED and explained how excited they were to have been involved in the album.
In particular, Hueningkai spoke about the track “Dear Sputnik,” where he is credited as a producer. For him, it was an honor for people to hear something that he worked so hard on.
The experience of working on this track helped me learn about the production process. I hope that I can continue to write music and work on tracks and also challenge myself with different genres.
After being so involved in their music, all the members used it as an opportunity to grow as artists. Soobin explained that he wants to improve on his songwriting, and Yeonjun hopes that the group can work on more genres and styles of dance.
Beomgyu pointed out that he wants to continue writing songs embodying him as an artist and share it with their fans, MOA.
I tried to express what I feel when I hear the song in the lyrics. Also, the writing process itself allows me to feel different and new things about the song. I think that’s what’s really great about being able to work on these songs.
In the album, it is clear that the members have had a lot of influence over their work. The tracks “What if I had been that PUMA” and “No Rules” have songwriting credits from all the members. Alongside Hueningkai, Taehyun contributed to “Dear Sputnik, Soobin worked on “Ice Cream,” and Yeonjun wrote on the track “Frost.”
Make sure to give their whole album a listen, and you can watch the video for their title track, “0X1=LOVESONG,” below.
