K-Pop is incredibly popular at Japanese karaokes, and these nine artists are completely dominating the song choices.
In a survey by Oricon, the head of statistics and information on music in Japan, these artists’ songs are the most popular at karaokes so far this year.
Although they have yet to make their Japanese debut, TWICE dominated the poll by taking the first place spot with their mega-hit “TT.” The group is also the only artist to have three songs selected in the top ten, with “Like OOH-AHH” at number 7 and “Cheer Up” at number 8.
BIGBANG continues to prove their dominance in Japan by taking the number 2 spot on the list with “Bang Bang Bang.” Along with TWICE, BIGBANG is one of the only two artists to have three songs in the top fifteen, with “Fantastic Baby” at 11 and “Haru Haru at 14.
SHINee’s “Get The Treasure” came in at third, and is the only Japanese song by a K-Pop group to make the top 15. The group also has another song on the list, with “View” coming in at number 13.
Even after five whole years, “Gangnam” style is still proving to be quite a popular song, coming in at number 4. It’s truly an immortal hit that just never seems to get old.
Ailee’s Goblin OST “I Will Go To You Like The First Snow” was not only a smash hit in Korea, but in Japan as well! The beautiful ballad was the fifth-most popular song in Japanese karaokes so far this year.
BTS is really proving to become a top K-Pop group in Japan, with “Fire” coming in at number 6 and “Blood Sweat & Tears” at number 12.
KARA’s “Mister” is still one of Japan’s favorite songs after almost seven years and it came in at number 9 on the list. Its catchy chorus and addicting dance have made it a legendary song in Japan.
8. Girls’ Generation
Girls’ Generation’s “Gee” is so catchy that it’s still one of the most popular songs to sing in Japanese karaokes a full eight years after it was released, coming in at number 10 on the list.
TVXQ has left a lasting impression in Japan and “Mirotic” is still a forced to be reckoned with, coming in at number 15.
