Lee Hyori, an icon in the K-Pop scene who was known as the “Nation’s Fairy” during her days on SBS‘s Family Outing, encourages women in their 20s and 30s “not to be afraid of new makeup.”
When interviewed by the fashion magazine Cosmopolitan, Hyori said, “Shooting the cover of a magazine is fun and uplifting every time. I’m glad to be able to decorate the cover of Cosmo, even when I’m older.”
When asked about whether she had any hesitation toward new makeup during the shoot, she said, “Any makeup will look good if you have a youthful and healthy body. Everyone, in your 20s and 30s, please challenge yourself with new makeup!”
Her surprisingly simple advice to young women is completely on-brand for the straightforward, confident singer. While using makeup is obviously a personal choice, it’s encouraging to have a beauty like Lee Hyori cheering younger women on to be bold and not be afraid to try new things.
The entirety of Lee Hyori’s interview and video will be available in Korean Cosmopolitan in December.
