Heartbreaking Letter From Child With Cancer to MAMAMOO’s Hwasa

“It was like a ray of light in a darkness for our family.”

MAMAMOO‘s Hwasa and her fans’ altruism is being praised by netizens from around the world.

On January 12, a special handwritten letter was shared around online community boards. It was a letter from a child Leukemia patient and her mother.

“…My child has been sponsored by your donation. My husband recently lost his job and we had nowhere to get the funds for my child’s medication, but your generous gift helped us getting the medication. …It was like a ray of light in a darkness for our family. Thank you so much”

The patient, identifying herself as MooMoo (referring to MAMAMOO’s fans), also wrote a personal handwritten thank you letter to Hwasa.

“…I am in grade 6 and a big fan of yours. I get so much positive energy from your performance videos on YouTube. Even when I get admitted to the hospital for my chemotherapy treatments, I think about you and it helps me a lot…I hope to get better soon and will sing ‘Decalcomanie’ at Karaoke with my mom!”

Dear Hwasa Unni from MAMAMOO
Hello Hwasa Unni!
I am the grade 6 student that received your generous donation this time. Hwasa Unni! When I was in the hospital, I got so much positive energy from your performance videos on YouTube. Even when I get admitted to the hospital for my chemotherapy treatments, I think about you and it helps me a lot. I really like your tomboy-ness. I am not outgoing and active as you are. When I was watching TV, I always thought to myself, ‘I would definitely write to Hwasa Unni’ and I am so happy to have a chance to write to you now. I was really worried about my parents, who had been worried sick for my treatment fees, but they are so relieved now thanks to your gift, so I am extremely happy. Thank you so much Hwasa Unni! I hope to get better soon and will sing ‘Decalcomanie’ at Karaoke with my mom, just like I did before I was sick. Please cheer for my health and well being, wherever you are. I love you Unni!
From, MOOMOO

The funds had been gathered by Hwasa’s fans in DC Gallery on her behalf and were donated to the Korean Childhood Leukemia Foundation on her birthday in 2017.
