He believes he can’t have it.

The interests and hobbies of BTS‘s RM extend beyond music. For one, he’s a huge fan of art and paintings!

Knowing that, Weverse Magazine once asked him how it feels to look at art that has no people as its subject.

It’s well known that you like art and frequent exhibitions, but how do you feel when you look at art in your home or another space where there are no people, like in the album art?

He explained that he was struck by a saying that he heard from someone in the past. According to the saying, it isn’t necessary to buy a painting because it’s his as long as he’s looking at it.

Someone said, ‘You don’t have to buy this painting; it’s yours so long as you’re looking at it.’ That’s my favorite sound bite these days.

He then revealed that there is something he envies about painters that he can’t replicate. After painters die, their paintings are proudly hung on a wall for centuries. Music, however, doesn’t seem to last as long as fine art does.

What I envy the most about painters is that, even after they die, their work will be hanging up somewhere, maybe even in another country, still defining that space. Musicians leave behind their songs and videos, too, but it’s only through fine art that viewers in the future are able to completely meet artists from the past. I’m envious that this is only possible for painters.

Concluding his thoughts, RM shared that he is looking for places where he can have a relaxing experience viewing beautiful art pieces.

These days I’m trying to find spaces where I can have more relaxed viewing experiences.

Although it’s true that fine art lasts through the centuries, so will BTS’s legacy!
