Released on July 15, it was notable among his creations for being made at the lowest and highest points of the COVID-19 pandemic. He explained that this situation had a definitive impact on his album making process. Since BTS had numerous schedules during the pandemic, he prioritized group activities before his solo ones.

I started working on the album after the pandemic [started], maybe in 2020. I had to halt the individual project because BTS has things to do.

The BTS dancer worked on the Jack in the Box album from December 2021 onwards. It was a rare time when he could focus on his own album and he wasted no time in getting it done.

I got down to working on the album at the end of the last year. It was after the concert in LA, around the time when I could take days off and the pandemic situation was getting better. I worked like mad for about a month and a half.

The entire group took a vacation after their sold out concert, but instead of resting completely, J-Hope was motivated to finish everything before another busy year ahead.

It is really hard to concentrate fully on something usually, because of the schedule. I knew that the minute I thought ‘I gotta do this,’ I needed to do it or the chance will be blown away. So I never left the studio.

The result was a collection of works that received positive reviews.

Last month, BTS announced that they would be taking a hiatus from group activities. This opened up time for them to focus on solo projects such as J-Hope’s Jack in the Box release.
