Super Junior’s Kangin Shares Plans To Return To Screens And Irritates The Netizens

Koreans are calling him “shameless”.

Super Junior‘s Kangin will be returning to the screens with a role through a “web drama”, or an online series, called What Happened To Mirae?. This will be the first time he returns to promoting publicly since his DUI incident three years ago.

A YouTube channel called EDGE DRAMA recently released a trailer for the online series and Kangin can be seen acting the male lead role.

As soon as the trailer went live, Korean netizens began criticizing the series producers for casting Kangin, despite his DUI history – or which the public is more seriously referring to as his “criminal record“.

Kangin was also recently involved in Jung Joon Young’s chatroom controversy. While he was not investigated by the authorities, Korean netizens continue to remain displeased by his association with the chatroom at all.

Kangin’s agency, Label SJ, claimed that he “decided to appear on the series because the producers offered to cast him.” The agency, in what may have been a response to the growing criticism, also added that the online series is the only promotion Kangin will be involved in for the time being.

There isn’t anything else official scheduled for Kangin at the moment. Super Junior’s next album is planned to be produced some time in the second half of this year, but the exact time frame or the members to be included has not been decided yet.

At the same time, Kangin’s international fans are commenting on the YouTube channel their excitement to see the singer back to work. The show is set to air on internet platforms such as YouTube on May 31, 2019.
