SHINee‘s Key is well known for his encyclopedic knowledge of K-Pop songs and dances. He frequently flexes his knowledge on the show Amazing Saturday where he performs various idol songs just as well as the original singer. He recently revealed that he had never met someone who matched his energy as a K-Pop dance cover expert — until he met Jaejae!
Key was featured in the latest episode of Jaejae’s series MMTG where he met some students whose parents were SHINee fans and gave a short lesson in K-Pop history. Afterwards, he and Jaejae sat down for a more formal interview — well, as formal as can be with these two!
The two talked about Key’s interest in K-Pop, particularly his admiration for BoA. They couldn’t resist jumping into a Random Play Dance where they both aced BoA’s choreography from years ago! Jaejae is also known for her expertise when it comes to K-Pop, so seeing these two together guarantees a dance party.
While listing some of his favorite BoA songs, Key was surprised when Jaejae mentioned “Sweet Impact!” He said, “Wow, I’ve never had anyone that shared so much interest with me. Never in my life. Seriously.”
They didn’t just show off their BoA knowledge, though; they danced and sang along to Girls’ Generation‘s song “I Got A Boy” perfectly in sync!
They recalled how students would do the dances in school, and Key said it showed that they were clearly from the same generation.
Jaejae even said she and Key were like soulmates after they revealed they both spent a ton of their time focusing on K-Pop instead of doing their schoolwork: “I didn’t know you were my soulmate.”
Key revealed that he was disappointed that he and Jaejae weren’t able to bond over their entertainment industry knowledge back when SHINee appeared on MMTG. But they definitely got to show off their compatibility and expertise with this episode!
