“Produce48” Debut Team’s Contract Will Last 2 Years And 6 Months

Produce48’s debut girl group will have a longer contract than Produce 101’s previous two project groups.

The K-Pop girl group that will debut through Mnet‘s third season of Produce 101, called Produce48, will have a 2.5 year contract – a whole year more than Produce 101 season 2’s debut group Wanna One.

Produce48 is a collaboration with AKB48‘s producer Yasushi Akimoto and the new format of the show includes 48 Korean contestants and 48 Japanese contestants.

The debut group will promote in both Korea and Japan, and will have a personal theater dedicated to their performances, like AKB48’s theater in Tokyo.

Because of this, CJ E&M Corporation have announced a longer contract period for the debut group.

“As the first Korean and Japanese girl group to be selected by a national producer in collaboration, it’s members will conduct global activities after making a debut in both countries. It will also be a period of consultation with the member’s companies to help them gain a higher status as global artists and support their ongoing activities.”  CJ E&M Spokesperson

Wanna One‘s contract is valid for 1 year and 6 months, and is due to expire at the end of December 2018. Produce 101‘s first season group, I.O.I, had a contract that only lasted 8 months.

I.O.I disbanded in 2017.

With a star-studded line up of mentors and a new teaser trailer released, netizens are increasingly curious and excited to see what Produce48 has in store! The first episode is scheduled to air in June.
