Park Yoochun Refuses To Pay Sexual Assault Accuser Because He Has Less Than $1000 USD In His Bank Account

He claims he doesn’t have enough money.

Singer and actor, Park Yoochun reportedly hasn’t compensated the woman, Ms. A who accused him of sexual assault with ₩50.0 million KRW (about $43,700 USD) in settlement fees for over a year.

According to Joongang Ilbo, Ms. A’s lawyer sent Park Yoochun documents outlining that Park Yoochun hasn’t sent Ms. A the ₩50.0 million KRW (about $43,700 USD) for the last year and threatened to sue him if he didn’t clarify his stance immediately.

In July of last year, the court underwent compulsory mediation in a lawsuit for damages, and Park Yoochun didn’t make an objection within 2 weeks following the proposal of the mediation plan.

Regarding the settlement, Ms. A’s lawyer stated,

Park Yoochun must pay Ms. A ₩50.0 million KRW (about $43,700 USD), and if he fails to do so, he must pay interest of 12% from September 1, 2019 up until the day he pays it off. The amount of money he’s required to pay as of right now including the interest is ₩56.0 million KRW (about $48,900 USD).

However, Park Yoochun refused to pay the settlement fees, and it was revealed that he reported to the court claiming he had less than ₩1.00 million KRW (about $873 USD) in his bank account.

Ms. A’s lawyer expressed,

Under whose name is the profits he made through his fan signing and concerts? We can’t help but suspect that he’s hiding his earnings in order to avoid paying his settlement fees.

Back in 2016, Ms. A sued Park Yoochun for rape. However, Park Yoochun was not indicted, and although he sued Ms. A for falsely accusing him, the court ruled Ms. A innocent. In 2018, Ms. A filed another lawsuit demanding 100 million for damages.

Regarding Park Yoochun’s failure to pay the settlement that was made, Ms. A’s lawyer concluded,

If Park Yoochun really doesn’t have the ₩50.0 million KRW (about $43,700 USD) to pay, he should at least reveal his plan of how he’ll pay it off. If he wants to continue participating in activities while receiving the public’s love in order to make profits, how are we supposed to understand his refusal to compensate a victim for the damages he imposed?
