Park Hae Jin’s past interview under recent controversy

An old magazine interview by actor Park Hae Jin has come under scrutiny after it resurfaced online.

In the interview, the actor is asked about his thoughts on cosplaying, a performance art  in which a person transforms themselves with costumes and fashion accessories to represent a certain character. He answered, “Honestly, until I graduated, I never really understood otaku culture. I thought they were out of their minds.”

Later in the interview, he is also asked on what he would do if a man confessed his love to him. Park Hae Jin replies, “If that happens, I would half kill him (laughs). It’s terrible to even touch skin with a guy.”

Some netizens voiced out their disappointment in the actor, leaving comments that pointed out how conservative he sounds. Others defended him, commenting that his opinions were of the past and how his line of thinking must have changed since then.
