Here Are The 9 K-Pop Songs And Three Albums That Just Earned New Gaon Certifications

Congratulations to all the artists with new certifications!

Each month, Gaon gives out new certifications for K-Pop albums and songs for reaching certain milestones, and they’ve just released their newly certified albums and songs for April!

Album certifications are based on sales: A platinum certification is earned at 250,000 sales, double platinum at 500,000, triple platinum at 750,000, and million certification at 1,000,000.

For songs, certifications are based on downloads or streaming numbers. For downloads, a song earns platinum at 2.5 million downloads, double platinum at 5 million, triple at 7.5 million, and diamond certification at 10 million downloads.

When it comes to streaming, a song earns platinum with 100 million streams, double at 200 million, etc., and billion certification at 1 billion streams.

TWICE’s Sana

This month, three K-Pop albums received new Gaon certifications for sales! SHINee‘s Don’t Call Me is now platinum certified, as it has sold around 280,000 copies since it was released on February 22 this year.

TWICE‘s most recent album, Eyes Wide Open, has now earned a double platinum certification, with just over the 500,000 sales necessary to earn it! The album came out last year on October 26, and is the latest addition to an already extensive list of Gaon certifications for TWICE.

Finally, TXT‘s Minisode1: Blue Hour has also earned a double platinum certification! It now has almost 510,000 total sales, and was also released on October 26, 2020.

Taeyeon‘s “Four Seasons” has also now earned a platinum certification in the download category (with a release date of March 24, 2019).

And finally for the download category is none other than BTS‘s “Boy With Luv” ft. Halsey, which also earned a platinum certification! Originally released on April 12, 2019 off of their Map of the Soul: Persona album, this is one of many of Gaon certifications the group has earned.

Finally, six K-Pop songs gained new certifications in recognition of how many streams they have: “To You My Light” by Maktub (double platinum); “How You Like That” by BLACKPINK (platinum); “Slighty Tipsy” by Sandeul (platinum); “How Can I Love the Heartbreak, You’re The One I Love” by Akdong Musician (double platinum); “Dolphin” by Oh My Girl (platinum); and “Give You My Heart” by IU (platinum).
