The 2020 SBS Entertainment Awards, which was hosted by Lee Seung Gi, Shin Dong Yup, and ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo, wrapped up the event with Kim Jong Kook taking home the Daesang.
Kim Jong Kook, who is a part of Running Man and My Ugly Duckling, took home his first Daesang at an entertainment awards ceremony.
In his acceptance speech, he stated, “When I received an award as a singer I was so calm that I later regretted not enjoying it more. That is how valuable this award is to me.”
He also thanked Yoo Jae Suk and Kang Ho Dong for being great mentors to him. “I started appearing in entertainment shows to promote myself as a singer and I would sometimes ask Yoo Jae Seok to not ask me to do things because I didn’t enjoy it. I was a shy person at first, but after appearing on shows and meeting great mentors like Yoo Jae Suk and Kang Ho Dong, variety shows have become my life.”
He also couldn’t forget to thank all the members he worked with on the shows. “All the ‘Running Man’ members have worked so hard. I never thought there would be people who took care of my parents while appearing on ‘My Ugly Duckling’. I dedicate this award to all the members.”
He concluded, “I have come to appreciate more of the things we take for granted. I think this year will be a lesson that I will not forget even when the world returns to normal. I will continue to work hard to bring laughter to everyone.”
Congrats to Kim Jong Kook!
