JYP Responds To Claims That TWICE’s “MORE & MORE” Background Set Prop Was Plagiarized

Both the creator and JYP responded.

TWICE‘s latest music video for “MORE & MORE” was accused of plagiarizing creator Davis McCarty‘s artwork. McCarty creates beautiful crystal sculptures with vibrant rainbow colors, and a set prop in the music video looked very similar to his past project.

The scene in question is during the last chorus before TWICE breaks out into their dance break. The girls are standing on a platform featuring the rainbow sculpture afloat on a river in front of a natural scenery.

The prop looked similar to Davis McCarty’s work back in April 2018 for the Baltimore’s Light City Art Walk.

In his now deleted post, McCarty called out the similarity between the two structures as “blatant copyright infringement“. He asked his followers about how he could reach out to the proper party (JYP Entertainment) and asked them to share the post.

After the news reached JYP Entertainment, the agency released a statement explaining that they were made aware of the similarity and had asked the music video’s producers to resolve the issue smoothly with McCarty.

They also plan to create a system that will prevent such incidents from happening in the future.

This morning, we noticed that a particular set from the “More & More” music video was similar to an existing piece. We asked the music video producer to talk with the creator of the original piece to resolve the issue smoothly.

As JYP is a company designated to release our artists’ works, we plan to set up a review system to prevent events like this from happening in the future.
