Ji Suk Jin Plays It Cool When Asked How Long He Plans On “Living In Yoo Jae Suk’s Shadows”

His answer proved why he’s a veteran in the industry.

Our favorite Running Man member and veteran comedian, Ji Suk Jin recently made a guest appearance on SBS‘s Dolsing Fourmen where he brought forth many hilarious moments. While his appearance on the variety program was highly anticipated, however, it was one particular segment on his featured episode that has started to make headlines.

It was when the cast members were gathered around, eating and chatting with one another, that some of the members began to direct numerous questions towards Ji Suk Jin. They warned him that the intense questions would require “high attentiveness,” to which the Running Man member boldly shared to “bring it on.”

Comedian Lee Sang Min started off with a more comedic question by asking Ji Suk Jin if he will be “having a 60th birthday party soon.” Turning 60-years-old in South Korea, also known as hwang-gap, is a significant milestone within the culture and is oftentimes celebrated lavishly. Ji Suk Jin, who is currently 55-years-old (international age), who is often the butt of age jokes, had no problem answering this question with ease.

I have a few years left, but who does 60th birthday parties anymore.

While there were a few additional comedic questions, it was the shifted atmosphere targeting the comedian’s career that started to be received differently. Lee Sang Min shared he had recently watched a variety program that Ji Suk Jin hosted on his own, but stated that there were very few scenes with him in them. Tak Jae Hoon added on by asking, “why do you insist on doing things alone when it doesn’t go well.”

Following his comment, he asked Ji Suk Jin the question, “how much longer do you plan on living in Yoo Jae Suk‘s shadows?” While even Lee Sang Min agreed that the particular question went “too far,” Ji Suk Jin remained calm and answered candidly.

The phrase ‘shadow’ is so interesting. To say that I’m in Jae Suk’s shadows…we’re there together. Our roles are just different. When I need to support him, I support him but there are times when Jae Suk supports me when I need support.
