IZ*ONE Becomes The 1st Girl Group To Sell Over 100,000 Albums In Less Than 1 Day

The album has already broken multiple records within hours of release.

While some fans feared that the voting scandal surrounding IZ*ONE would affect their popularity, that doesn’t seem to be the case at all. Their newest album, Bloom*Iz, has just broken the girl group record for most copies sold in one day.

IZ*ONE’s first studio album, Bloom*Iz, was subject to a 3-month delay after the revelation of Mnet’s Produce series vote manipulation investigation forced the group into a hiatus. Originally due to be released on November 11 2019, the album finally hit shelves on February 17 2020.

When the Hanteo chart updated just after 4pm Korean time, it was revealed that IZ*ONE had broken the girl group record for first day sales with Bloom*Iz.

By 7pm Korean time on Bloom*Iz release day, the album had reached over 175,000 sales on the Hanteo chart. That puts them almost 100,000 copies ahead of the previous record holder, BLACKPINK. BLACKPINK reached a first day sales figure of just over 78,000 with the Kill This Love mini-album.

IZ*ONE now holds two spots on the list of top 5 highest first day sales for girl groups. TWICE’s Feel Special sold 61,000 copies, MAMAMOO’s Reality in Black sold 51,500 copies, and IZ*ONE’s Heart*Iz album comes in at 5th place with 46,800 sales.

The only other female artist who has sold over 100,000 album copies on the first day of release is IU. Her album Love Poem reached 125,000 sales on day 1.

Even more remarkably, with less than one day of sales counted, Bloom*Iz now already holds the highest first week sales figure of any girl group. The previous record holder was TWICE, who sold just over 154,000 copies of Feel Special in the first week.

Given that first day sales will carry on accumulating for the next few hours, it’s possible that IZ*ONE may even break the 200,000 mark.
