(G)I-DLE’s Soojin Has Suffered An Ankle Injury & Cannot Participate In Upcoming Concert

Get well soon, Soojin!

Today, Cube Entertainment announced that (G)I-DLE‘s Soojin has suffered an injury and cannot participate in the group’s upcoming online concert appearance.

According to the statement posted on UCUBE, Soojin recently sprained her ankle during choreography practice. Soojin then visited a hospital to receive a physical checkup and treatment for her injury.

The company says Soojin’s doctors diagnosed her with pulled ankle ligaments, a condition commonly known as a “sprained ankle”. It usually occurs when the ankle gets twisted into a sudden awkward position, but thankfully, it’s rarely serious.

Cube Entertainment went on to say that Soojin will be following medical guidance to wear a cast and pads until she recovers. She’ll also need to minimize moving her body to encourage swift healing. Unfortunately, that means she’ll be unable to participate in the group’s upcoming concert schedule.

(G)I-DLE is set to perform at the SBS 2020 SUPER ON:TACT online concert on Sunday, October 18, alongside MONSTA X, ITZY, TXT, and more. Now, Cube Entertainment says the appearance will proceed as scheduled, minus Soojin’s involvement. Soyeon, Miyeon, Minnie, Yuqi, and Shuhua will perform at the 2020 SUPER ON:TACT concert as five.

We ask for fans’ kind understanding on this necessary change, as we fall short of your expectations.

Thankfully, Soojin will still be participating in the concert’s fan event. And, the company says she will be returning to future events “as appropriate to her recovering health“.

A low-grade ankle sprain generally heals within one to three weeks, while moderate torn ligaments may need up to six weeks to heal. Only most severe sprains will take several months to heal, but since Cube Entertainment didn’t mention surgical intervention in their statement, it appears Soojin isn’t suffering a severe injury. Fans are tweeting #GetWellSoonSoojin on Twitter to wish her well on her recovery.
