14 Years Later, EXID’s Solji Is Finally Making Her Solo Debut

Better late than never!

EXID‘s leader and main vocal Solji is officially going solo next month with her first release as a solo artist next month after over 14 years in the music industry.

First debuting in 2006 as a part of the duo 2NB, she later became the vocal trainer for EXID after the duo’s 2008 disbandment. In 2012 the EXID experienced a lineup change, which resulted in Solji and Hyelin joining the group alongside LE, Hani, and Jeonghwa.

Despite the group not being very well known within the industry, Solji did experience personal acclaim for her superb singing skills. In 2015 on the pilot episode of MBC‘s King of Mask Singer, Solji competed as “Self-Luminous Mosaic,” eventually going on to become the show’s first winner and one of the show’s all-time greatest contestants.

She has since made several other appearances on other singing competition shows, every time blowing people away with her impressive and expressive voice on her own as well as within her group.

EXID’s last release was a little over a year ago, but Solji has still released several OSTs since then. Earlier this year, she departed from EXID’s entertainment company Banana Culture but remains a member of the group for future activities, and later signed with a new company to begin her new solo career.

Solji’s solo release is scheduled for July 9. Further information regarding the album will be provided on a separate date.

Congratulations Solji, we’re so excited for you and can’t wait to see your beautiful smile and hear your amazing voice again!
