Even casually listening, you can’t help but appreciate everything J-Hope has put into the album. Yet, if you go deep, you will discover more details that will make you appreciate it even more.

First of all, if you look at the cover art for Jack In The Box, you can see that it is a collaboration with American artist and designer KAWS.

This is one of J-Hope’s favorite artists. You can often see his work in members’ studios.

Yet, if you look closer, you will notice that seven hands are making up the cover. So, though it’s a solo album, BTS are represented subtly.

J-Hope’s pose also bears a resemblance to Michelangelo‘s The Creation of Adam, which forms part of the Sistine Chapel’s ceiling. Considering he’s an art lover, this probably was intentional.

Additionally, ARMYs have noticed that song credits list R.Diggs and R.Jones from the legendary hip-hop group Wu Tang Clan as co-writers, along with J-Hope and Dem Jointz!

J-Hope’s new song “What if…” actually sampled the song called “Shimmy Shimmy Ya” by Ol’ Dirty Bastard (stage name of the late R.Jones). The latter track was also co-written and produced by R.Diggs (also known as RZA).

J-Hope proves that he is not just a fan of Hip Hop. As a Hip Hop artist, he has truly educated himself and has mad respect for those who came before him, and he also gives credit where credit is due (not all artists do).

Also, some may say that J-Hope spoiled his solo concept back in 2013. He referenced his stage name’s origins in “Pandora’s Box.”

On the same day as the album’s release, J-Hope revealed the album’s last track with a MV. The song in question is “Arson,” which we have been looking forward to since he dropped concept photos.

There is a lot to appreciate in this music video. For one thing, J-Hope is basically a stuntman now, as eagle-eyed ARMYs noticed that he may have literally lied down on the ground at the center of the “S” in flames.

We’ve been finding all sorts of connections to previous music, including both solo mixtape Hope World and even BTS discography.

The concept photos for “Arson” had references to HYYH (short for “Hwa Yang Yeon Hwa” or “The Most Beautiful Moment In Life”) and possibly even “Dope.”

After watching the teaser for “Arson,” ARMYs wondered if it was connected to “FIRE.” A hooded figure appears in both music videos.

Lyrics in “Arson” also connect to “HANGSANG,” featuring Supreme Boi from Hope World. The lyrics are slightly different but convey the same message.

And, of course, “Arson” is connected to the pre-release single “MORE.”

Previously, we saw J-Hope via X-ray. Now, we see his internal organs.

Yet, the same box in which the storyline for “MORE” took place is seen burning in “Arson.”

The “MORE” MV contains tons of Easter eggs and references too.

ARMYs couldn’t help but notice the cinematic parallels to Hollywood films The Wolf of Wall Street and Fight Club.

Again, he gives a subtle shoutout to BTS.

And V even made a cameo.

There’s also a shoutout for his younger self!

And, J-Hope went deep with his lyrics.
