Ever since Crash Landing on You aired in Japan last February, Japanese viewers have praised it for its modern day take on Romeo and Juliet.

The strong relationship between Captain Ri and Yoon Se Ri despite hailing from North and South Korea respectively also has its own charm. Viewers saw their struggles as an inspiration to continue romantic relationships despite the disillusionment caused by economic struggles and COVID-19.

Moreover, local industry sources have predicted that Hyun Bin will become the next Bae Yong Joon as the drama’s popularity is similar to that of Winter Sonata‘s in Japan.
