BTS’s RM, Suga And V Share Their Reflections On the Pandemic And Their Touching Reason For Releasing “Dynamite”

“The song is a tangible culmination of winning over tough times.”

Before their successful release of “Dynamite”, the smashing new single dropped by BTS just this afternoon, the boys had held a press conference to address the upcoming album, single, and of course, what fans were curious about – just how are they spending their quarantine time?

With the situation at hand, it is difficult for many to venture outside work and home, for safety reasons of course. Likewise, many events and concerts have been cancelled. As a highly successful worldwide boy group, BTS had it particularly tough as they were not able to go on their usual world tours. During the press conference, they shared how the pandemic had affected their attitudes and what they spent their time doing.

V shared that the situation was tough on everyone and that although the pandemic was rough, what came out of it was “Dynamite”.

It’s not just us but it is something everyone is going through. The reason why we came to release a song we had no plans of releasing was because of this sort of reason. As things that are unpredictable are happening, many of our plans also fell through. We love music, singing and dancing more than anyone and have so much passion for it – that we can say confidently, however, those that love us, are way more important than that. This song is meant for those that are having it rough now and we sincerely pray it brings happiness and energy to lots of people.

Suga acknowledged that the virus put the world in a tough spot and BTS also, succumbed to the emotional difficulties that the pandemic brought about. As singers, they missed the stage and fans thoroughly, but found some comfort in online concerts and other means of digital communication.

COVID19 put the world in a really difficult time. As we readjusted our schedule for the world tour, we felt really empty and frustrated. It was a situation where we couldn’t help things even if we tried, and this was a first for us to experience as well, in all our years of being active. Amongst us, we expressed it as a feeling where we fall down while running. The pity of not being able to meet fans, as well as the (unhappiness) of not being able to sing on stage – we felt it the most as we tried to fill that void up just a little bit, through our online concert.

The fact is, the place BTS has to be, is on stage. I think that dancing and singing, is BTS’s true form. At least online, we wre able to communicate with our dans, and we felt happy through that. It would have been great if we were able to meet fans directly but the current situation can’t be helped. But even so we received your love and support well through the online concert. There are a variety of ways of communication even if we are physically apart. I thought that it would be good if we became a strength for you guys as well, and I think through such forms of communication is a sufficient enough way to gain strength and be comforted.

Lastly, RM shared that the pandemic actually gave them time to think deeper about themselves and he shared a touching hope he had for their new single.

It became an opportunity for us to deeply consider ourselves as a whole as well. Thanks to that, this song was able to see the light, as we were able to try something we had not tried before, something lighter and brighter. I think it is a tangible culmination of winning over a tough situation and a ray of light in this dark moment. I sincerely hope and pray that this new song will be able to recharge many people and fill their batteries up even just momentarily.
