BTS’s RM Reveals His Proudest And Most Honorable Moment Yet

He’s definitely a lover of history!

In a new BANGTAN BOMB, BTS‘s RM had the opportunity to enjoy a private moonlit tour of Gyeongbokgung Palace, the main royal palace of the Joseon Dynasty, thanks to the shoot for BTS’s “IDOL” and “Mikrokosmos” performances for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

RM explained how he had always wanted to go on a moonlight tour for Gyeongbokgung Palace but had yet to have the opportunity, so he was thankful.

I never had a chance to go on one. The tickets were always sold out, or I didn’t have the time for it, so this is my first time! Obviously, there are no fountains.

He couldn’t help but fanboy whenever he thought about the fact that he was performing at a palace he had admired for so long. He revealed that performing at Gyeongbokgung’s Geunjeongjeon Hall might be his proudest moment yet.

I just can’t believe that I performed in front of Geunjeongjeon! I believe that this is one of the proudest and most honorable things I did until now…

RM explained that he tries to visit palaces, specifically Gyeongbokgung, multiple times each year. As a history lover, he also hopes that their ancestors don’t mind their performing there.

Honestly, I’m really stoked right now. I love palaces so much that I go to Gyeongbokgung two times a year. I recently went to the Secret Garden at Changdeokgung and the Jongmyo Shrine. I also like going to Changgyeonggung and Deoksugung. I come to palaces when I’m feeling down and thinking of performing here… It’s just unbelievable. I hope it doesn’t bother our ancestors.

After their performance, RM explained some of his concerns about performing there. He gave a brief history lesson, explaining how servants were kept on one side of the path while warriors and scholars were on the other sides.

The path down here in the middle… This path is called ‘Eodo,’ and that means the path that the king walked on! No one else is allowed to step on this path! But?! Our stage is placed on it. I apologize to our ancestors. …Whenever I came to Gyeongbokgung, I tried my best not to step on Eodo, but I realize how meaningless my actions were at this point.

While RM had visited Gyeongbokgung Palace many times, he shared that it was some members’ first time. He was especially disappointed that Jin, who lived closer than others, had never visited.

It’s okay because J-Hope’s from Gwangju. But Jin, who lived closest to Seoul, never came to Gyeongbokgung! I think that’s a serious problem because Gyeongbokgung is so beautiful.

At the end of the vlog, with a heart full of gratitude for the opportunity, he continued to admire the palace’s beauty. one last time and how ARMY’s love had turned it purple for BTS.
