BLACKPINK’s Collab With Lady Gaga Finally Has A Release Date—Here’s Everything We Know About The Song

Here’s the collab’s release date, title, producer list, and more.

Last month, it was revealed that all the rumors about BLACKPINK collaborating with Lady Gaga were true. However, after Gaga postponed the release of her album, BLINKs were itching to find out just when we’d all get the hear the collab magic. Now, Lady Gaga has finally announced the track’s release date. Here’s everything we know about the song so far.

The BLACKPINK and Lady Gaga collaboration track is titled “Sour Candy”, which definitely sounds perfect for the group’s “black meets pink” concept. The song will appear on Gaga’s latest album, Chromatica.

So far, neither Lady Gaga nor YG Entertainment have confirmed much regarding the song. One thing we do know is who made it: BloodPop, Madison Love, Burns, Rami, and Lady Gaga herself.

It seems that this is the full list of producers, contradicting BLINKs’ earlier speculation that Tommy Brown (who worked on some of Ariana Grande’s biggest hits) may have been involved. Brown recently talked about his experience recording in the studio with BLACKPINK.

Prior to that, many wondered if Grammy-winning producer Ryan Tedder was involved. In March, he confirmed that he would be working with BLACKPINK. He also told the media that he’d been working on a song with BloodPop that would feature on Lady Gaga’s new album.

According to one insider on a music forum, “Sour Candy” is actually the shortest song on Chromatica. However, none of the track lengths have been confirmed yet.

Thankfully, you’ll be able to find out for yourself in just a few weeks. According to Lady Gaga’s update today, Chromatica will be released on May 29.

According to Lady Gaga, the album title Chromatica refers to all the colors of the chromatic scale and how they represent inclusivity. So, it’s possible that the colors black and pink could play into “Sour Candy” in some way.

This will be BLACKPINK’s second major collaboration. “Kiss and Make Up”, a collab with British singer Dua Lipa, was released in October 2018 and received Silver certification in the United Kingdom last year.

“Sour Candy” will be the 10th track on Lady Gaga’s album. Chromatica also features two more high-profile collaborations—“Rain on Me” with Ariana Grande, and “Sine From Above” with Elton John.
