BIGBANG’s Seungri has announced his retirement from the K-Pop industry through a message on his personal Instagram account, following the various different scandals he has been involved in regarding Burning Sun and possible prostitution.
This is Seungri.
At this point, I think it would be for the best if I retire from the entertainment industry. I decided on retiring from the entertainment industry due to the issues that I caused. The disturbance and issues in society are too big. Regarding the issues that are being investigated, I will accept all investigations and reveal all the suspicions.
While getting criticism and hate from the public for the past month and a half, and with all the agencies in the country currently investigating me, I am even being considered a traitor of Korea. Personally, I can’t tolerate harming everyone around me to save myself.
I would like to sincerely thank all the fans in Korea and around the world who have given me lots of love for the past 10 years. I think this is where my end [as a celebrity] will be, even if it’s [to protect] the honor of YG Entertainment and BIGBANG.
Again, I am sorry and would like to apologize once again.
I am so thankful to everyone up until now.
Earlier today, two new reports came out about Seungri’s involvement in the Burning Sun and Club ARENA investor prostitution ring. The first one was about how Seungri was not the only celebrity involved in the group chat.
Just an hour later, Seungri, along with other male singers, were accused of sharing illegal hidden camera videos with each other. Seungri and the other members in the chat did not speak up about any possible wrongdoings that sharing such videos could bring.
Several celebrities have since been named, including rock artist Jung Joon Young and Highlight’s Yong Junhyung. Around Us Entertainment has since come out to say that Yong Junhyung is in no way involved in the case, and will be taking legal action against those who spread the rumor.
Police are currently investigating the case, and will continue to release more details over the next few days. Stay tuned for more updates on this incident.
