Fans concerned after it was suddenly announced that actor Ji Soo had recently underwent surgery.
On September 13th, agency Prain TPC revealed, “Ji Soo recently went through surgery for acute osteomyelitis on the 13th and is now recovering.” The actor was admitted into surgery at 4pm KST.
According to AAFP, acute osteomyelitis is an infection of the bone which in adults “is usually a subacute or chronic infection that develops secondary to an open injury to bone and surrounding soft tissue.”
As the surgery was sudden, they were unable to inform fans ahead of time, the agency explains.
It was further revealed that the actor has been feeling pain in his leg, visiting the hospital multiple times in order to find out what was wrong. When the pain continued, he finally underwent a detailed checkup the day before the surgery occurred. Prior to getting the results of his checkup, Ji Soo was rushed to the hospital after suffering from high fever and extreme pain where doctors stated surgery was needed right away.
The agency adds, “He is currently recovering but we are going to watch over him for a bit more before we say anything else. With regards to the drama ‘Fantastic,’ we are going to attempt to find a way to not negatively impact them as much as possible but right now the priority is Ji Soo and his family.”
Currently, Ji Soo is active in the JTBC drama Fantastic in which he is playing the supportive role of Kim Sang Wook.
