At over 1 foot in length, LOONA‘s lightstick is one of the most unique in K-Pop. Now, it needs an equally unique name. In a new social media update, the group is asking fans to suggest names for the lightstick—here are 10 of the best ideas from Orbits so far.
Moonlight may seem like an obvious choice, but it’s still a great name for the lightstick. It also has a second hidden meaning in Korean. The Korean word for “moonlight” is “dalbit“; “dal” is part of LOONA’s Korean name “idalui sonyeo“, while “bit” is part of Orbit.
Some of the fans who suggested Moonlight as the lightstick name include @sailoraeong and @kjheejin on Twitter.
Starlight is a similar suggestion. Alongside being a LOONA – Odd Eye Circle song, the name also calls back to the star wand Haseul used before LOONA debuted.
Some of the fans who suggested Starlight as the lightstick name include @chaewonton and @haseuljennie on Twitter.
Satellight is a combination of the words “satellite” and “light”. The name represents the light of the lightstick, and how the fandom Orbits around LOONA light a satellite. The group also has a song called “Satellite” on the album [+ +].
Some of the fans who suggested Satellight as the lightstick name include @lunarmares and @bluebettasoul on Twitter.
Supernova represents the astronomical phenomenon in which a star explodes, representing how LOONA and Orbits create a burst of light together.
Some of the fans who suggested Supernova as the lightstick name include @MardexB and @redmistoquente on Twitter.
Waningbong was suggested because of LOONA’s lightstick design. The main shell of the lightstick is a crown, but the uppermost adornment is a waning crescent moon.
One of the fans who suggested Waningbong as the lightstick name is @hyejoofication on Twitter.
Selene is the Greek goddess of the moon. The way she carries the moon through the sky represents how Orbits will carry LOONA through anything and everything. Plus, Selene carries a lightstick-like torch and is depicted with a crescent moon on her head—just like the lightstick topper.
One of the fans who suggested Selene as the lightstick name is @lcvecherrymagic on Twitter.
Prism is based on optical prisms—transparent objects that refract white light into rainbows. Similarly, the lightstick also emits rainbow colors from a transparent bulb. The name also represents how LOONA shines through Orbits’ love and support.
One of the fans who suggested Prism as the lightstick name is @werehills on Twitter.
Vivid represents the way LOONA and their lightstick shine in numerous vivid colors, but it also calls back to when LOONA first began. The first member to be revealed was Heejin, who debuted with the single “ViViD”.
One of the fans who suggested Vivid as the lightstick name is @lunarmares on Twitter.
Crownbong is another very simple name, but there’s nothing wrong with simple. The name reflects the crown design of the lightstick, as well as how LOONA are queens in the K-Pop industry.
Some of the fans who suggested Crownbong as the lightstick name include @heejinstwinnie and @lipvivesorbit on Twitter.
Okay, Orbits probably won’t be allowed to name the lightstick after just one member, but it’s a heartwarming suggestion nonetheless. In the group photo attached to LOONA’s lightstick naming post on social media, every member has their lightstick turned to Haseul’s assigned color: green. Haseul is currently absent from the group while recovering from an anxiety disorder.
